IRON MAN IN ST GEORGE MAY 2010 :)

Keeping the spectators off the road.

My friend Shelli and her family and neighbors. They wated to throw the softball, run the bases but they liked the kicking the soccar ball and seeing who could score the most goals with 3 tries.

Kamery, her youngest comes into our home and heads for the cookie jar. They call me Grandma Pearl and I enjoy that. They like to swim and look at the swans but they have never gone frog hunting like the Oceanside California grandchildren. That has been reserved for them.

More friends, they moved out of the ward and we miss them.

John had his activities on the little legue field. They had a softball throw, running the bases for time and the best event I thought was kicking soccer balls into the net. They had 3 tries and it was fun to watch, sometimes the girls were better than the boys.

Different modes of transpsortation. The best one was the covered wagon with the tractor picking up people from various places and bringing them to the park.

Zoomba, a new fast excerise demonstration for young and old alike. What a work out!!!

Eliza wanted to ride the mechanical bull.

Keep your arm up Eliza!! OH! NO! He proved he was king. She had fun and so did the young men controlling the bull.

John Karen and Eliza.

Off we go to the park. This is quite a memorial dady for Ivins and St. George. There were many roads blocked. Many people of Padre Lakes took their lawn chairs and waited for the bikers to come down our stree. One grandmotherr came to see her grandson, he wavaed thanked her for coming, sid he loved her and continued on. She even had balloons for him to see. Everyone there cheered for him, I wish I knew who it was.

This beautiful sign greeted us and we all got volunteer shirts for helping.

The city of Ivins wants to make this a yearly event. They had a great turnout.

St .George has a 5 year contract for the Iron Man

There will be 72 qualifying slots available to the 2010 Ford Iron Man World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in addition to a professional prize purse of $50,000.

The day begins with a swim at the Sand Hollow Reservoir. The bike course will lead athletes through the towns of Hurricane and Washington before making its way toward the city of St. George. At the end of a picturesque, two-loop section, the bike course will offer views of Snow Canyon before heading into downtown. After entering transition in St. George’s historic Town Square, athletes will begin the two-loop marathon course that heads out for a climb toward Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. This challenging course will wind through Pioneer Park, neighborhoods along Diagonal Street, with a turnaround point located at Main and Tabernacle Streets. The race will finish alongside Heritage Tower with a backdrop of downtown St. George.
