sarah and samuel

Samuel Peter Villegas was born July 27, 2010. His parents are Sarah and Sergio. They were in our gospel essentials class and Sarah was baptized before they moved to CO
Here are two pictures they sent us before they came to visit us. They are a darling couple and we are glad they keep in touch with us.

We met them at McDonalds. We had a nice visit. Next trip we'll meet them. We thought she brought her mother-in-law to Ivins from Mesquite . We found out she came just to see us. That made the visit very special for John and me.

I had a the beginnings of a cold so I didn't get close to him.
Their friends from the ward came to visit them too. Samuel is very strong for a three month old.

Second Week BOWLING + Softball

Every sport has their own bulletin board so we took a copy of Bowling. This was the first year for the new chair and they did a great job.

Bowling is the second week of the games along with softball so John is limited to how much he can do with me. We'll do Mixed Doubles and Team.
My partner is Karen Chute. We knew each other in Buena Park CA and it has been fun bowling with her this year.

These are the new shirts this year and we wore them as doubles partners. Qualifying for doubles. We qualified in the scratch division. That was a shock.

John and I wore our matching shirts that we use in league. His shirt has 'salty and mine has pep"
Salty Pep and Annette Chugg. Salty,Pep and daughter Annette. She surprised us and came to watch us before her meeting. That was very nice.

Our team :
Ted Kezos Karen Chute Pearl and John. We were the "Misfit" Team so we all wore different shirts. Ted was given permission to bowl as a team and no other sport. We were glad he was our partner.

I entered all bowling events.
I qualified for all events. I bowled 24 games in 5 days. I was pretty worn out.
We were very lucky. Karen and I took a BRONZE (3rd) in doubles and our team took BRONZE !!!! We were all very happy.

After the games were over John traveled with the Slammin' 70's
from Salt Lake. They have played for him in other tournaments. They took Silver. They were defeated 3 times by the same team. They had fun.

Volunteers

These volunteers are very important to all the games.
Annette had the day off so she came to help. Bill and Frank were happy for her help.

Huntsman Games Second Week

Southern Utah Senior Softball Association

SUSSA 74+ Team We love their uniforms.
This team played the second week of the Senior Games. We have one player that is 81 and everyone can't believe he is still playing. John is 75 and there may be one or two more that age. Their uniforms are great.
Two of the wives had a lady make them shirts for them to wear. We all think we'd like them if the team continues to play together. Check them out.

Salty Dog Mesquite Seniors

The first week of the games Salty Dogs were entered as a 70 year old team playing down with the 65's. They called it practicing together as a team from all over, Salt Lake, St. George, and Mesquite. They had a rough time, we did manage to get all of our games in before the rain came because they played at 8:30 a.m.

After the first week of the Huntsman Games we played as 70's in Mesquite. We were called, "The Mesquite Seniors".

We never won enough games to count but once again it was practice.
We were without the players from Salt Lake. They were playing with their home town teams. They didn't win any games to speak of either. They were looking forward to the next week. We just need some running legs and on! those "Senior Moments" can really hurt a team.

Mesquiqte Cementery

Down the hill from the ball diamonds in Mesquite we find this cemetery. It is well kept and has a lot of different headstones.
I found this one that really was interesting to me. These people were very well known for their musical talents. I've wanted to take a picture for a long time and finally got it done.

First Week of Senior Games

Putting up schedules and information for everyone to see after they register for the games.

The umpires had to check every new game to make sure everyone had registered that was playing.

We were really looking forward to the Huntsman Senior Games, this is John's last year at seeding the softball games??? . There are 340 teams this year, counting both weeks. The first week is the fullest and the hardest to find enough volunteers to help, especially with softball.
NO ONE EXPECTED the weather to be so HORRIBLE. It started to rain a little Friday, more Saturday and when we were registering Sunday is was still raining. The games started Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Our Salty Dogs played at 8:30 a.m. and again at 9:50 . By the time the last inning was over it had started to rain, pour and lots of lightning. The rest of the games were rained out that day. The rain continued and Tuesday we were lucky and got in another game and that was the end; the rest were rained out again. They moved the opening ceremonies into the Burns Arena at the college. There were about 120+ games rained out and there were several teams who didn't play a game when they tried to seed for the brackets. Most of the teams were understanding , we had no control over the weather but there were teams very upset. It was hard on John,Doug and Bill.
The last two days were pleasant and they hope the 2nd week would be like their "normal" weeks in the past.

Carlyn

Carlyn's back yard. Stanly and Jason help keep it up.

This fountain is so pretty. Judy, Pearl and Carlyn. Now it was John's turn to pose :)
The front of Carlyn's home.

Sherrie with her dog and Judy said it was too bright to keep her eyes opened but she let me take her picture anyway. Thats a good friend. :)

Carlyn,Judy and Sherrie and the dog. We knew we were at the right home because we recognized this famous licence plate. They have had it for years.

We had so much fun visiting with them. We gave them Five Crowns and played the game up and down. It seemed to go faster if you started with 13.
Sherrie had a new game. It was LCR I think. It was a lot of fun and they are going to send us one. I've looked around her but haven't found one yet.
After we left they had lots of company and Carlyn said they wore the cards out. Said they looked like ours and ours were a lot older. We're glad they liked the game and Pam and I hope to see them again soon.

We drove to Prim Monday the 6th. The traffic was only conjested the last 15 minutes. We were glad we only went part way. The next morning we got up bringt and early and had a great visit as you can read all of the above first.

Traveling to Payson UT for 55 Reunion

We always stop in Beaver at the Chevron Gas Station. The first exit coming from St.George. There is a big rocker that most of our family have had their pictures taken in or around with the exception of my dad. He didn't want to stop and broke my heart. We have some great shots of mama.

They were having a petting zoo and John took some pictures of the animals. We bought Carl Butler some squeaky cheese and when we took it to him I took a picture of him and the McMullin truck. It is the oldest truck on the orchard and runs like "a charm". They are very proud of it.
