CA Primary program 11-08-09

Grandpa Pete brought his train set and put it up for the children. Paul and Rabecca had a party to go and we visited with the children. We set up the train, played with their air hockey game after Paul fixed the connection and then we all had fun with the train.
We had fun reading library books and reading the scriptures. All of the children took their turn and it was so much fun seeing how well they read and when it was time for bed everyone went quietly.
Garrett and Nathan let us sleep in their room while they camped out in the living room.
Grandpa playing in Elsie's room. She loves to tell him everything!!!
Paul working magic on the control and Garrett ready to go when everything was put together again.
Nathan was ready to play and he was challenging us all. He is a really good player. His eye hand coordination was very good.

Paul getting a "real work out". Everyone wanted him to throw to ball to them so they could hit it to him or even better, hit it over the cement wall.
When is it going to be my turn?

Elsie thinks she needs to have all the balls and then share with her brothers and sisters.
Garrette and Kayla
Rabecca and Kayla
Nathan, he is ready and waiting for Paul to throw him the tennis. ball.

Friday November 8 Th we drove to Laguna Hills Ca and saw Laguna Hills High School play in their new stadium (to us) a football game. John was so excited to see all the coaches and even students that he had taught. We stayed with Don Hilts, a friend and a teacher that has retired but still takes football games. We visited with Kathy Brooks. I helped her boys with their Eagle Projects and it was fun to reminisce. The next morning bright and early we drove to Oceanside CA to visit with Paul and Rabecca and children. We went to see and hear them in the Primary Program Sunday November 8.
We had a fun morning. We went to Lowe's with Paul and Elsie May and then we went as a family to their park and shagged tennis balls while everyone played.
This is Elsie, isn't she a cutie.

Everyone wanted part of the ACTION. It was fun seeing them inter act and boy they are well coordinated.

We made a quick trip to CA to see Garrett, Kayla, and Nathan Peters perform in their Primary program at church. It was so much fun.

The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich William L. Shlrer

It has been a long time since I've blogged anything and I'm sorry to say I have forgotten how to do most of it. Thanks to my friend Shelli I hope to keep it going and she gave me the best Christmas Plaque.

"Everyone is Born With a Photographic Memory.
Some just don't have film. :) That fits me to a T and I love it. Thanks Shelli.

I've always been interested in history and John has all of the Time Life Books on World War 11.
I borrowed the book from Randy and Jane Guthrie and started it several times and then made up my mind I would start it and finish it. I go to the Hair Academy every week and while I was under the dryer would read it. I took it in the car and would read some of it to John.
We have German blood and so I found it very interesting.
I was amazed how brilliant Adolf Hitler was. He was born 20 April 1889 in Gasthof zum Pommer--an inn in Braunau Am Inn-Austria-Hungary. He died 30 April 1945
He played Cowboys and Indians and became fixated on war after finding a book, Francoc-Prussian War. This great historic struggle made him more enthusiastic about anything connected with war and soldering. He became a Christian at age 15. He became an anti-Semite in Vienna, a hotbed of traditional religious prejudice and the 19 Th century racism.
WW l he served in France and Belgium. He was decorated twice for bravery.15 October 1918 he was in the hospital and he realized then his role in life was to save Germany. He became involved in politics after WW!. His first attempt at a coup was known as the Beer Hall Putsch.
l April he was sentenced to 5 years in prison and on 20 Dec 1924 he was pardoned and released.
His rise to power started Sept 1932-after the finical crisis July 1932 after he became a candidate for the presidency Nov 1932 saw a fall in his popularity , the Nazi Party election March 1933 saw the results rise after he was named Chancellor of Germany. After securing supreme political power he went on to gain public support by convincing most Germans ;"he was their savior from the economic depression."
The first steps to war began 1934-1937, He was smart and could be most convincing when he wanted something done that would be of benefit to him. He could tell a lie and you wouldn't realize it until it was too late.

You need to read the book to see all the horror that took place.

I was amazed at how he conquered nations without a single shot being heard. September 1, 1939 was the launching of World War ll. There were attempts to kill Hitler that failed and those involved were executed as soon as they found out who they were.

England's Prime Minister Winston Churchill and our President Franklyn D. Roosevelt really couldn't believe that Hitler was going to war against them. if you have time read the book.
I found out that Konrad Heinlein was known as "the little Hitler of Czechoslovakia." I have information about him in our genealogy.
I've read My Brothers Voice by Stephen Nasser. How a Young Hungarian Boy Survived the Holocaust A True Story. We heard Mr Nasser speak in St. George during their annual Book Fair. He signed his book for me. I'm also reading Hubener VS Hitler A biography of Helmuth Hubner, Morman teenage resistance leader. I found in my Christmas Stocking Agent Bishop True stories from an FBI Agent Moonlighting as a Mormon Bishop. I've started Mein Kampf, my brother in law Rudi Wasserbaech told me to read it. Hitler wrote in in prison.. It is very heavy and will take me a while to finish it.

On a better note, our bishop ask every member to start reading The Book of Mormon in September and finish it by Christmas. I'm proud to say I finished it December 20, 2009. I'm now reading The Old Testament.
I love to read and hope to be able to do the things I should and also do fun things, like blogging, walking water aerobics, continue to lose weight and become a better friend and neighbor.

SETH'S 5 K August 29, 2009

Jane registering all of us. Randy and Allie in the front of the pack.

August 29,2009 Seth's Cross Country Team had a 5 K to benefit his high school, Thunder Ridge and other schools in the district. The plan was to take Sheila with us and I would push her in the wheelchair but Friday night she decided she wasn't up to it so I went over to Jane's Friday night and went with her and the Guthrie Clan. It was a lot of fun and here are a few pictures telling you about the event.
Melissa was telling Marie and Tessa how important it was to stretch before the race.

Melissa pacing herself with the Thornbrew children, she was a real sport to do that.
We were "helping hands", the stroller got stuck in the soft sand so we picked it up and helped carry it to the road. Allie, Melissa,Marie and a dog with his shirt on, so cute . Grandma Jane was busy taking pictures for Grandma Pearl.

The finish line with most of us there to have our picture taken. Allie is holding her ribbon for 3rd place. A pleasant surprise.

These were posted in the windows after the race. Fun for the girls to see their names and ages.

I wanted front and back pose of my shirt. I use it to walk in and I feel very safe. There is no double I can be seen. This is the other walking outfit I use. Annette helped me with the bright trunks. :)
