Friday, the 5TH of February we traveled to Oceanside for Kayla Marie Peters 8TH birthday, she was also getting baptized by her father that day. It had been stormy off and on all week but we weren't too worried. When we got passed Mesquite NV it started to sprinkle off and on again and when we reached the Cohan Pass it was horrible. Fog, heavy rain, wind and we remembered that the drivers in CA just drive normal. They don't stop for anything. I was a nervous wreck by the time we reached Oceanside. Paul had checked in with us to see how we were doing and how far we had traveled. We were booked at the Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Oceanside. What a wonderful place to stay inn. There was all kinds of faculties to use, bar-be- cue, spa and everything you wanted but everything was outside so we didn't get to enjoy any of them, maybe next time.:)
We went to a place called Rusty Pizza for lunch and then we went home to get ready for the baptism, it was still raining. The baptism was wonderful. The font was not very full and Kayla is so light her knee came up and Paul had to do it again. A wonderful missionary tool for the non-member to see. They knew it was a full immersion and had to be done as the Savior had instructed.
There was a young man, Curtis J. Horner baptized also. Each participant had members of their participate, prayers , talks, music and it was a very inspirational event. It was still raining but Sunday it was a beautiful day and Sacrament was a very good meeting. Kayla bore her testimony and told of her experience at school Friday. When the students have a birthday they get to tell the class what they are going to do and she told the class she was going to be baptized and there were many questions asked and she told theme of being baptized by immersion. What a great missionary she was that day and will continue all her life I'm sure. I've included a few of the pictures I took for your enjoyment. Grandma Pearl

5 year miracle

We have had this plant for so many years. Once it had a Bata Fish in it. It was Reanna's favorite plant and one day she put a red marble in the water. It is still there. It bloomed quite often an then after the fish died we just kept it thinking it would bloom again. It never did. Last week we noticed what looked like a blossom. Yes, it really is and almost to the sides of it is another blossom. This plant hasn't bloomed for 5 years. We are really excited to see it bloom.

25 January Payson UT Temple Announced

Plans for a new temple to be built in UT. The site is Payson, UT. This makes 15 temples in Utah.
The property for the Payson temple is located on gently shopping ground approximately 930 West and 1550 South on the southwest side of Payson from the 800 South l-15 interchange. The property offers scenic views as well as easy access to the freeway.
The new temple will serve approximately 22 stakes from Spanish Fork to Nephi comprising approximately 78,000 Church members. Temple-going members have been driving to Provo or Manti for temple services.
Artists 'rendering, the size of the temple, groundbreaking dates and other information will be released as they become available.
Latter-day Saint temple provide a place where church members make comments to God and where the highest sacraments of the faith occur such as the marriage of couples for eternity. Temples differ from the tens of thousands local meetinghouses where members typically meet for Sunday worship services and midweek activities.
The practice of temple building is rooted in both the Old and the New Testament and from its historical beginnings to the present day the Church has constructed temples.
The first temple was built by the Church in Kirkland, Ohio. The first Utah temple was completed in St. George in 1877,followed by Logan in 1884, Manti in 1888, and Salt Lake City in 1803.
The Payson temple will bring the total number of temples worldwide already in operation or in the planning and construction phases to 152. A letter was sent to local Church leaders today regarding the new temple.

Gunlock Trip

John, Karen and I drove up to Gunlock. We had heard that the water was going over the dam. There was no water flowing but there was snow! Gunlock is a fascinating little community.
We plan on going back when the roads are not covered with snow and ice. We'll go to Enterprise and come back through Highway 18, I think that is the name. We call it around the loop.








We couldn't believe our eyes. We thought at first this was a real deer guarding the front door.



This was a gate to a ranch. The eagle is so pretty but it was hard to get a picture of it. Thanks Salty.

Friday Night Finals. Two more medals !!!

Grandpa John took pictures of all the important scores. I think we have them correct.

Jonah and Annette with one of his medals Friday night. He won 3 first and one third for the region competition. We are very proud of him and hope to get a picture of him with all 4 medals and possible more at state. The meet will be held at BYU, Provo, UT. We were there last year and it was a huge event.
The boys took First place in the 200 Free Style Relay. The girls took first in their event, where are the rest of the girls?

Jonah finally made it up to the podium for his award. Where were the others? We don't know but we wanted a picture of him standing on the podium. Thanks Jonah.
Event 19 heat 4, our own Emily Morris broke the region record in the breast stroke with a time of 1.08.44. Good luck at State Emily!!! You were awesome. There were plenty of "War Whoops" when she broke the record.

Grandpa John fell in love with this little doll, Brooklynn Slack. She was one of the youngest person there. She was so cute and very very good.

The boys ended up coming in second place and the girls did the same. They still have a good chance at state February 5 and 6. We wish them luck.

Grandma Pearl and Grandpa John will be in Oceanside CA. Kayla Marie Peters will be baptized on her birthday. That doesn't happen very often and Kayla will never forget the date.
